Job: Underwriter – Commercial Lines
We are currently looking for a full time Underwriter, to join our Novato, CA office.
Responsibilities include:
- This position will include underwriting new and renewal business from both a retail and wholesale side.
- Duties will include accepting, declining or modifying business with little to no supervision.
- Strong knowledge of commercial lines coverages including professional liability, general liability and property coverage.
- Responsible for producing a minimum of $100,000 new business premium per month.
- Must be able to sell to brokers and a diverse client base.
- Some travel required.
Desired Skills:
- Applicant must have a High School diploma, College Degree preferred.
- 3 to 5 years of commercial underwriting experience.
- Proficient with MS Office products. AMS experience a plus (but not required)
- Communicate both written and verbally.
- Detail oriented and posses critical thinking capabilities.
- Familiar with standard insurance concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Must have an active CA P&C License
Compensation:
- DOE. Benefits include 401k plan, health insurance and 125 plan option.

Job: Customer Service Representative
We have an open position for a Customer Service Representative at our busy commercial insurance brokerage in Novato.
Responsibilities include:
- Processing endorsement requests
- Renewal quotes -- 100+ per month
- Process renewal applications
- Handling phone inquiries from brokers and clients
- Sending letters or emails for information
- Support Underwriters in obtaining items necessary to bind
Desired Skills:
- Must have a minimum of two years of commercial insurance experience
- Computer skills such as Microsoft Word / Excel / Outlook & general internet usage
- Excellent phone skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must be detail oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiar with standard insurance concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Must be able to make rapid decisions.
- Ability to meet deadlines, work with a sense of urgency and have excellent customer service skills.
Compensation:
- Pay is based on experience; Benefits include 401k plan, health insurance and 125 plan option.
Must have an active California P&C License (please include license number with your resume).
